Acne Skin Care Products

Acne effects millions of people everyday.  A persons skins the first person that the world notices when they see you.  Keeping your skin clean and clear is an important thing.  Would you wear a sweater with a huge stain on it? Then why walk around with a huge acne blemish on your face?

What is Acne?

Acne is a skin disorder caused by oil and dead skin cells.  The body produces an oil called sebum.  It is secreted through the pores or the hair follicles in the skin.  The skin also sheds dead skin cells.  When the sebum is produced at a rapid rate or the skin cells are shed too rapidly, or a little of both, the pores or hair follicles can become clogged.  This causes an acne breakout.  Acne is not physically dangerous, however, it can be psychologically dangerous.  If a person suffers from moderate to severe acne, it can cause mental issues.  Acne can cause a person to become withdrawn.  It can cause anxiety and depression.  A person who suffers from moderate to severe acne may shut themselves off from the world because of the embarrassment of the disorder.  This is not a problem which can be hidden since the most common place which acne develops is on your face. There is no way to hide it.  Acne can also develop in the neck, shoulders, and back.

How is Acne Caused?

Acne is caused when the hair follicles or pores become clogged.  The over production of an oil called sebum or the rapid shedding of dead skin cells are what can clog the pores.  No one can pinpoint exactly what causes each breakout, however, we do know what causes oil to be produced faster and skin cells to shed more rapidly. 
A change in hormone levels is the main cause of the changes which result in an acne breakout.  This is why adolescents and young adults are the most often affected by acne.  When a woman has her period, her hormones begin to change rapidly.  This is the reason why a woman who has her period or who is about to have her period tend to have acne outbreaks.

Certain medications can also cause acne breakouts.  Certain psychiatric medications, Lithium for example, can cause acne.  Certain medications containing iodine can also cause acne.  There are a few other medications which can cause acne breakouts.  These outbreaks contribute to a large percentage of adult acne outbreaks. 
Adolescents and young adults are not the only ones who are affected by acne.  Adults can also develop acne.  It is not as common as teenage acne but it does happen.

Acne Treatments

There are a few things that can be done to prevent acne before it begins.  Prevention is the best defense against acne.  The best way to prevent acne is to keep your pores and hair follicles clear.  This will prevent clogging.  The way to keep your face clean is by cleansing the skin twice a day.

DDP Pumice Acne Scrub: This is an excellent product for the treatment of acne, razor bumps, rough or oily skin of the face and the body.  This is an excellent product for those people of color who have cosmetic problems due to shaving thick, curly hair.  This product is also excellent to apply to the skin following a bikini wax.

When using this product, it is wise to begin using it every other day to start.  After that you can move up to once a day, then twice a day, then three times a day.  Because this product can cause dryness and irritation, it is a good idea to begin using it slow.

Stridex Fruit Therapy Maximum Strength Acne Cream: This problem comes very highly recommended.  This product is for existing acne.  You put a dab on the problem area before going to bed.  When you wake up, the pimple will be half the size than what it was the night before.  This cream is not over drying.  It should not, however, be used as a daily cleanser.  This can dry out the skin.  This product is not meant for daily use. This should only be used for blemishes.  If it is a daily product you are looking for, try a cleanser.  There are many cleansers on the market.

This product gets rave reviews in all areas except one.  When it comes to availability, Stridex Fruit Therapy Maximum Strength Acne Cream is not the best.  It is very difficult to find this product.  If you can, however, you should buy as much of it as possible.

Alpha-Hydroxy Oil Free Formula: This is another excellent product for clearing up acne problems.  You can use it at any time of the day to reduce the size of a pimple.  This products name describes exactly what it is.  It is alpha-hydroxy, one of the main ingredients in many different acne removing products.  This product is not a miracle cure however.  People tend to purchase these products thinking that it will make your blemish magically disappear.  That is not the case.  In some instances, the pimple or blemish could go away.  In most cases however, this product will reduce the size and color. 

This product can be purchased in many drug stores and supermarkets.  Availability of this product is good.  It is not that difficult to find.
